This is my latest work. This time around, I tried using metallic paints on gold and iron parts. I used blending and shading technique to give the metallic colors more dimension and depth, similar to NMM technique.
However for metallic paints, a blending between layers is more difficult to achieve because the paints themselves are already glossy and reflective. As a result, once coated with matt varnish or flat clear lacquer, layer disjoints are easily seen if they are not completely blended.
Personally, I think the color grains of Vallejo Model Color’s metallic paints are too big, making them over scaled on small figures such as these.
