It's finally finished!! After over more than two months with this tiny guy. J For painting him, I used the same colors as used in the Lord of Chaos, but adding more wear and tear such as scratch, chips, verdigris and rust stains because I think it suited with the image of Chaos. The metallic parts were painted with the NMM technique and washed with oil colors (Raw Umber & Burnt Sienna) for blend the colors harmoniously and make it look like realistic metal.

Also, The base was made from a pieces of plaster and copper wire, painted with Vallejo model colors (German Grey, Stone Grey as a basecoat and mixed with black and white for shadow and highlight) and weathered with oil colors and MIG pigments.

หลังจากผ่านไป 2 เดือนกว่าๆ ในที่สุดงานชิ้นนี้ก็เสร็จจนได้ครับ ถือว่าค่อนข้างนานเลยสำหรับโมเดลเล็กๆหนึ่งตัว J ส่วนสีที่ใช้นั้น จะใช้สีโทนเดียวกับที่เพนท์ตัว Lord of Chaos แต่จะเพิ่มร่องรอยต่างๆมากขึ้น เช่น รอยขีดข่วน รอยกระเทาะ คราบสนิมต่างๆ (verdigris) เพราะคิดว่าน่าจะเหมาะกับอิมเมจของ Chaos ส่วนของสีที่เป็นโลหะใช้เทคนิคการเพนท์แบบ NMM และวอชด้วยสีน้ำมันอีกที (Raw Umber & Burnt Sienna) เพื่อให้สีของส่วนโลหะนั้นดูกลมกลืนและดูเหมือนกับโลหะจริงมากขึ้น

สำหรับส่วนของฐาน ทำขึ้นจากเศษของแผ่นปูนพลาสเตอร์และลวดทองแดง โดยใช้สี German Grey กับ Stone Grey เป็นหลัก มาผสมกับขาวและดำในส่วนของเงาและไฮไลท์ แล้วเวทเธอริ่งด้วยสีน้ำมันกับพิกเมนท์ของ MIG ครับ

CE & DWEEY

I created these two pieces for display in the “CE Platform Toy Festival @ Siam Center” around the end of 2011. Also showcased inside the exhibition were custom-made CEs from other 40 independent artists.

CE (pronounced “Zee”) is the name of a toy project which acts as a platform which allows artists to freely express their creativity. CEs are fully customizable DIY kits and come as 3.5 inch plastic figures with removable and switchable helmet pieces - thus, allowing the owner to create their own “unique” CE toy set easily. Once I knew that I have been invited to join the exhibition, I planned to combine the two things I love together to create my version of CE. That is mixing graffiti (as graffiti artist is my career here) and modeling, my favorite hobby, together.  The idea was to create a “Special Force” themed CE who, instead of having traditional spec-ops equipment, carries loads of graffiti equipment such as spray cans. And while the CE would still wear the camouflage, there would be graffiti art hidden beneath those patterns as well. I enjoyed myself a lot in doing this project as it allowed me to express my creativity freely without any rules or restrictions. And I felt very satisfied with how the CE turned out.

Although making CE & DWEEY was not quite the same as what I’ve done, model-wise, in the past. But doing something new (and different) made me feel happy too.

As a side note, I’ll have a chance to work with CE and Mafia Factory again in the near future. So I guess you may see more of CE in my blog soon.

งานชิ้นนี้ผมทำขึ้นเพื่อร่วมจัดแสดงในงาน CE Platform Toy Festival @ Siam Center ตอนปลายปี 2011 พร้อมกับศิลปินอิสระอีก 40 คน ที่ทำ CE ออกมาในรูปแบบของตัวเอง ซึ่ง CE (ออกเสียงว่า ซี) นั้นเป็นของเล่นในรูปแบบ platform ที่ให้เราสามารถใช้ความคิดสร้างสรรค์ไปแต่งเติมตัว CE ให้กลายเป็นรูปแบบเฉพาะตัวของเราเองตามแต่จินตนาการ ซึ่ง CE นั้นมีขนาด 3.5 นิ้ว ทำจากพลาสติก และสามารถถอดประกอบแยกหรือสลับชิ้นส่วนได้ (รายละเอียดอื่นๆ ลองเข้าไปดูได้ที http://www.ceplanet.net/ )

ส่วนตัวผมเองนั้น เมื่อรู้ว่าจะได้ร่วมทำในโครงการนี้ เลยตั้งใจว่าจะนำสองสิ่งที่ผมรักมากๆมาผสมเข้าด้วยกัน คือ การทำ Graffiti ที่เป็นอาชีพของผม (ผมเป็น Graffiti Artist ในประเทศไทย) และการทำโมเดลที่เป็นงานอดิเรกที่ผมรัก โดยใช้แนวคิดมาจากรูปแบบหน่วยรบพิเศษ และทำออกมาเป็นทีมพ่น Graffiti ที่ติดอุปกรณ์ต่างๆที่ช่วยในการทำงาน และสวมชุดพรางที่ผสมผสานกับลวดลายของ Graffiti เพื่อความคล่องตัวในการปฎิบัติภารกิจพ่นสี การทำงานครั้งนี้ จึงเป็นการทำงานที่สนุกมากๆ เพราะผมได้ใส่ความเป็นตัวเองได้อย่างเต็มที่โดยที่ไม่ต้องมีข้อจำกัดใดๆในการทำงาน และเมื่อเสร็จออกมาแล้วผมก็รู้สึกพอใจกับมันเป็นอย่างมาก

ถึงแม้งานชิ้นนี้อาจจะไม่ใช่การทำโมเดลแบบที่ผมคุ้นเคย แต่การที่ได้ทำอะไรที่แตกต่างดูบ้างมันก็ทำให้เกิดความสุขได้เช่นเดียวกัน และในเร็วๆนี้ผมมีโครงการที่จะทำงานร่วมกับทาง CE และ Mafia Factory อีกครั้ง คงจะนำความคืบหน้าของโครงการมาลงให้ชมกันอีกทีครับ Happy Modelling ครับทุกๆท่าน J

Abaddon the Despoiler (WIP)

This month is a busy month for me, both in terms of work and party with friends and family. That's why this project is still in progress after almost two months. J

And here is the latest progress of this project from 2 weeks ago and it still on the shelf, waiting to be finished. (May be in a few days, I hope so J)

เดือนนี้เป็นเดือนที่ค่อนข้างวุ่นวายสำหรับผม ทั้งในเรื่องของการทำงานและงานเลี้ยงสังสรรค์กับเพื่อนฝูงและครอบครัว เลยทำให้ผมไม่ค่อยมีเวลาสำหรับการเพนท์ซักเท่าไหร่ ภาพความคืบหน้าของงานชิ้นนี้จึงเป็นภาพของเมื่อ 2 อาทิตย์ก่อน และตอนนี้มันยังรอคอยอยู่ในตู้เพื่อให้ผมนำมันมาทำให้เสร็จอีกที หวังว่าช่วงต้นปีคงจะทำจนเสร็จได้ครับ

New Stuff from Mierce Miniatures &Introducing WAMP

Just a couple days ago,a very large parcel arrived was delivered to me. Packed inside are stuffs from Mierce Miniatures (the company who produces Bane Legions). All of them were sent to me as a prize for winning the Bane Legion Painting Contest over WAMP few months back. The prize includes one copy of each miniatures released (or will be released later) by Mierce for one FULL year period.  However, as you can see, this is just the first wave and contains miniatures released during the past three months. For those unaware, Bane Legions’ miniatures range is now incorporated into “Dark Lands”, a game system by Mierce.

เมื่อไม่กี่วันก่อนผมพึ่งได้รับพัสดุกล่องใหญ่จากทาง Mierce Miniatures นี่เป็นของรางวัลที่ผมได้จากการประกวด Bane Legions painting contest ที่จัดโดย WAMP  (ตอนนี้ Bane Legions ได้กลายเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของเกม Dark Lands โดย Mierce Miniatures) ซึ่งรางวัลที่ผมได้รับคือสินค้าที่ออกใหม่ทุกชิ้นเป็นระยะเวลา 1 ปี และนี่คือสินค้าจากควอเตอร์แรกของปีนี้

Suffice to say that, this is the most valuable prize I’ve ever got. And I’d like to thank WAMP, as well as Mierce Miniatures, once again – for holding the Painting Contest and sponsoring it with huge prizes. I’ll definitely find myself some time to finish these J

There is also another thing I’d like to talk about - something which I always wanted to share. But, due to my limited skills in using English, I fear that I might not be able to express them as accurately as I want to. Now, thanks to ZAlpha (a friend of mine who helped me with the translation), I can write a blog about it.

I’d like to talk about wampforum.com or WAMP - an online painting community site. I found this site by chance months ago while surfing CMON forums. Managed by group of people who love wargames and miniatures, the site is organized into many interesting sections, including discussion forums, galleries, news and previews from around the hobby, product reviews, and online store.

However, one thing I like about Wamp is the idea of encouraging every member within the community to develop painting skills and “grow” together. This is accomplished by giving other members advice on “how-to” either through the open discussion in the forums or blog exchange. There is also the “Wamp Ladder”- a system that allows members to pair up and compete against each other in painting. While this is done just for fun, I find the system beneficial as it helps improving both the skills and techniques in miniature making. Also, in each month, Wamp will hold a Painting Contest for miniatures of the sponsored company. It is an event where every member can participate to win prize. (Not to mention the privilege of having their painted minis displayed on the front cover of Wamp’s Portal Magazine if they win!)

So, if painting miniatures is what you enjoy and you want to improve your skills. Or you’re just looking for some new challenges. Why not head to Wamp and give yourself a try. I think the website has a lot to offer for everyone who loves miniatures and wargames.

อีกเรื่องที่ผมอยากจะพูดถึงมานานแล้วแต่ยังไม่มีโอกาส คือแนะนำเกี่ยวกับเว็ปไซท์ WAMP  ซึ่งเป็นเว็ปที่ผมเจอโดยบังเอิญเมื่อหลายเดือนก่อน ในฟอรั่มของ CMON เว็ปนี้จัดทำโดยกลุ่มคนที่ชื่นชอบในเรื่องของ วอร์เกม และมินิเอเจอร์  โดยแบ่งหมวดหมู่ที่น่าสนใจเอาไว้มากมาย ทั้งฟอรั่ม แกลลอรี่ ข่าวสารของสินค้าใหม่ๆ รีวิวสินค้า การสอนเทคนิคในการทำงานต่างๆ และร้านค้าสำหรับขายสินค้าออนไลน์
