M18 Hellcat

(Tamiya 1/35 scale) Getting started!

ครั้งสุดท้ายที่ทำโมเดลรถถังจนเสร็จสมบูรณ์คือสิบกว่าปึก่อน เป็นรถถัง Hetzer ขนาด 1/48 ของ Tamiya หลังจากนั้นก็ไม่ได้ทำรถถังอีกเลยเพราะหันไปศึกษาเรื่องการเพ้นท์สีฟิกเกอร์และมิเนียเจอร์แบบจริงจัง แต่ส่วนตัวก็ยังคงชอบโมเดลรถถังและติดตามผลงานของศิลปินที่ชื่นชอบอยู่ตลอด ที่ผ่านมาเคยคิดจะเอาโมเดลรถถังที่เก็บไว้มาทำหลายรอบแต่ยังไม่มีแรงบันดาลใจและโอกาสสักที 

ครั้งนี้อยากที่จะกลับมาทำส่วนหนึ่งเพราะรู้สึกว่าไม่ได้ส่งงานประกวดประเภทนี้มานานมากแล้ว อยากจะทำเตรียมไว้สำหรับงานประกวด WME ในอีกสามปีข้างหน้า และอีกส่วนคืออยากรู้ว่าประสบการณ์ในการทำงานที่ผ่านมาจะทำให้งานเสร็จออกมาเป็นแบบไหน และจะมีมาตรฐานที่ดีพอสำหรับงานประกวดใหญ่ๆหรือเปล่า ก็เลยมองหาโมเดลที่คิดว่าอยากจะทำจริงๆและมาจบที่ตัว M18 ของทามิย่าตัวนี้ 

ด้วยความที่ว่างเว้นไปนานมากๆก็เลยจัดเตรียมอุปกรณ์ชุดแต่งต่างๆเอาไว้ด้วยเพราะอยากที่จะทำงานนี้ให้ออกมาดีที่สุด รวมถึงอยากที่จะรู้ด้วยว่าเทคโนโลยี่ในปัจจุบันจะช่วยให้งานออกมาเป็นอย่างไรและสะดวกมากน้อยแค่ไหน

สำหรับชุดแต่งที่เตรียมเอาไว้ประกอบไปด้วยชุด photo etched และชิ้นส่วนเรซิ่นแบบ 3D ของ Passion Models, ลำกล้องกลึงของ Def Model, ชุดแต่งเรซิ่นกระสอบทรายและอุปกรณ์สนามติดบนรถของ Panzer Art, สายพานข้อเรซิ่นแบบ 3D ของ Quick Tracks, ชุด Towing Cable ของ Eureka XXL และชุดรูปลอกน้ำของ Def Model สำหรับทำรถถัง M18 ที่ทำการรบใน Bastogne, Belgium ปี 1944 ครับ 

หลังจากนี้คงจะเริ่มประกอบและค่อยๆทำไปเรื่อยๆ ถ้าทำคันนี้เสร็จแล้วคงจะหาฟิกเกอร์มาประกอบแล้วทำฉากจำลองใน Bastogne อีกที ถ้ามีความคืบหน้าเมื่อไหร่คงจะนำมาลงให้ชมกันเรื่อยๆครับ อาจจะช้าหน่อยเพราะคงทำสลับกับงานชิ้นอื่นๆด้วย โปรดติดตามกันต่อไปครับ

ปล. จริงๆมีงานโมเดลยุทธยานยนต์ที่ประกอบเสร็จแล้วพร้อมทำสีอยู่ 2-3 ชิ้น ทำเอาไว้ตั้งแต่สิบกว่าปีที่แล้วแต่เก็บเอาไว้ไม่ได้นำมาทำสีสักที ไว้จะนำมาถ่ายภาพให้ชมกันอีกทีครับ

The Recon (part 1)

In addition to working on a vignette project, I also started building a motorcycle in 1/35 scale. This is a BSA M20 kit from Tamiya. I have planned to convert this kit into something different and it will be my entry for MV's Madmax Contest. Just a couple months left before the contest ends, hope it will be finished in time. More updates soon!

นอกเหนือจากงานฉากที่กำลังทำอยู่ ผมยังเริ่มขึ้นงานใหม่อีกชิ้นเป็นมอเตอร์ไซค์  BSA M20 ขนาด 1/35 ของทามิย่าครับ ตั้งใจเอาไว้ว่าจะดัดแปลงเป็นรถในสไตล์หนังเรื่องแมดแม็กซ์ เพื่อร่วมส่งประกวดกับทางเว็บ Massive Voodoo [MV's Madmax Contest] ยังไม่แน่ใจเหมือนกันว่าจะทำเสร็จทันเวลาหรือเปล่า เพราะเหลือเวลาก่อนปิดรับผลงานอีกเพียงสองเดือน ตอนนี้ทำเพียงแค่ประกอบชิ้นส่วนคร่าวๆเพื่อดูรูปทรงโดยรวม แล้วค่อยตัดสินใจอีกทีว่าจะดัดแปลงอย่างไร ส่วนหัวของฟิกเกอร์นั้นลองเปลี่ยนมาใช้หัวของอัลไพน์แทน ไว้จะนำความคืบหน้ามาลงอีกทีครับ 

T-34/76 Model 1943

Back in 2005-2006, my friend Luck asked me to join with him making a fully detailed T-34/76 in 1/16 scale, it was the first cooperative project from both of us. At that time, Trumpeter was released several of T-34 family in 1/16 scale with full interiors and it was popular during that period, but it also has some of incorrect and missing details in the kit. We agreed to built it with a fully detailed and tried to improve every incorrect or missing details in the kit as much as possible, as we never saw someone made it in this way before (at that time). After Luck was researched and found many references for this tank, we decided to make this kit can be seperated and open some parts to show the inside of the turret and engine compartment. 
Therefore, In order to make this project was easy to work for both of us, we divided the construction in two main parts because it has many details in this huge tank. I was responsible for the interior of the hull and engine compartment. Luck gave me a stack of references for this project and it was very helpful for improving the details, especially in the engine compartment. After I finished building and painting this part, I sent it back to Luck for finished the rest of the model.

Luck was responsible for the turret, the hull exterior, running gear and tracks. He was created the new texture on the turret and sculpted the new wall inside of the turret to make it has thickness as saw from the reference of real tank, because it will be clearly seen when open the upper plate of the turret. After I sent the hull back to him, the turret was ready to paint and he continue making the rest of the hull, running gear and tracks. The painting was done by Luck as well. He decided to paint the exterior as a white wash camouflage and he used many techniques to create this paint effect along with a muddy appearance as usually saw on the russian tank during WWII.

ย้อนกลับไปช่วงปี 2005-2006 ผมมีโอกาสได้ทำงานร่วมกับพี่หมึกข้างขวด จากการชักชวนให้มาลองร่วมมือทำงานในงานชิ้นเดียวกัน กับรถถัง T-34/76 ขนาด 1/16 ของ Trumpeter เนื่องจากมีขนาดที่ใหญ่มากและรายละเอียดค่อนข้างเยอะ ในช่วงเวลานั้น Trumpeter ได้ออกรถถังในตระกูลนี้มาหลายรุ่น ที่มีรายละเอียดภายในให้มาด้วย และค่อนข้างเป็นที่นิยมพอสมควร โดยจะเห็นคนทำมาลงตามเว็บไซต์และนิตยสารต่างๆกันอยู่เนืองๆ ถึงแม้คิทชุดนี้จะทำรายละเอียดต่างๆออกมาได้ดี แต่ก็ยังมีส่วนที่ผิดพลาดหรือขาดหายไปพอสมควร เราทั้งสองจึงตกลงที่จะทำโครงการนี้กันในแบบเพิ่มเติมรายละเอียดต่างๆให้ถูกต้องตามข้อมูลอ้างอิงให้มากที่สุดเท่าที่จะทำได้ เนื่องจากในช่วงเวลานั้นยังไม่เห็นมีใครนำ T-34/76 มาทำในแบบนี้ครับ ซึ่งหลังจากที่พี่หมึกข้างขวดได้หาข้อมูลอ้างอิงต่างๆมา เราก็ตัดสินใจว่าจะทำให้เปิดโชว์รายละเอียดภายในได้บางส่วน เพื่อที่จะได้มองเห็นส่วนที่ได้ทำเพิ่มเติมไว้ได้อย่างชัดเจน โดยการตัดชิ้นส่วนบางชิ้นให้สามารถถอดประกอบได้ เช่นฝาด้านบนป้อมปืนและห้องเครื่องครับ จากนั้นก็แบ่งงานกันทำเป็นสองส่วนเพื่อความสะดวกในการทำงาน โดยผมจะรับหน้าที่ในส่วนของภายในตัวถังและห้องเครื่องยนต์ ซึ่งได้ข้อมูลอ้างอิงจำนวนมากจากพี่หมึกข้างขวด ทั้งภาพรายละเอียดภายในต่างๆ และการเดินสายไฟและท่อต่างๆในห้องเครื่องยนต์ จึงทำให้การทำงานในส่วนนี้นั้นง่ายมากขึ้นครับ จากนั้นเมื่อผมทำการประกอบ เพิ่มเติมรายละเอียด และทำสีทั้งหมดเสร็จแล้ว ก็ส่งกลับไปให้พี่หมึกข้างขวดรับช่วงต่อครับ
โดยพี่หมึกข้างขวดจะรับผิดชอบในส่วนของป้อมปืนทั้งภายในและภายนอก ภายนอกของตัวถังรถ ช่วงล่างและสายพานครับ ซึ่งส่วนหลักๆที่จะเห็นชัดๆในการเพิ่มเติมรายละเอียดคือการทำผิวของป้อมปืนขึ้นมาใหม่ รวมถึงการปั้นผนังภายในของป้อมให้มีความหนาตามข้อมูลอ้างอิง เนื่องจากเป็นส่วนที่จะเห็นได้ชัดเวลาที่เปิดฝาด้านบนเพื่อโชว์รายละเอียดภายใน ส่วนการทำสีภายนอกทั้งหมดก็เป็นหน้าที่ของพี่หมึกข้างขวดเช่นเดียวกันครับ โดยเลือกทำเป็นแบบสีพรางหิมะในช่วงฤดูหนาวและตามตัวรถจะมีคราบสกปรกจากดินโคลนอยู่โดยรอบ ซึ่งจะพบเห็นได้ทั่วไปในภาพของรถถังรัสเซียในช่วงสงครามโลกครั้งที่สองครับ

It was quite a lot of works and took several months to finish, but the result was really impressive. It also was a great pleasure to be a part of this project and this is one of my favorite project of all time. I don't think I will have enough effort to make a massive project like this in the future, just 1/35 is enough for me :) hope you like it and Happy Modelling to all of you :)

โครงการนี้เป็นการทำงานที่ค่อนข้างยุ่งยากและใช้เวลาอยู่หลายเดือนกว่าจะแล้วเสร็จ แต่ผลลัพธ์ที่ได้นั้นก็เป็นที่น่าพอใจมากสำหรับเราทั้งสองคนครับ และก็เป็นความภูมิใจของผมที่ได้มีส่วนร่วมในโครงการนี้และต้องขอบคุณพี่หมึกข้างขวดเป็นอย่างสูงที่ให้โอกาสได้ทำผลงานร่วมกัน นี่เป็นหนึ่งในงานที่ผมภูมิใจมากที่สุด เพราะไม่คิดว่าในอนาคตจะมีกำลังและความอดทนสำหรับการทำงานชิ้นใหญ่ๆแบบนี้อีก สำหรับตอนนี้ แค่ 1/35 ก็เพียงพอแล้วครับ :) แล้วพบกันใหม่ Happy Modelling ครับ

4. Tiger I (Early Production) - (Tamiya 1/48 scale w/Voyager Photo Etched set)

This model have been built and modified using Photo-Etched from Voyager plus additional bits and pieces made from plastic and copper wires in 2009 – 2010. I intended to made a 1/48 scale diorama with this one. However, since the 1/48 figure is quite hard to find (and the available poses were not of my likings), I decided to hold this project until everything necessary is available.

ทำการเพิ่มเติมรายละเอียดจนเสร็จราวๆปี 2009-2010 โดยใช้ชุดแต่งของ Voyager รวมกับชิ้นส่วนที่สร้างขึ้นเองจาก พลาสติกแท่งและแผ่น ลวดทองแดง และแผ่นตะกั่ว งานชิ้นนี้ตั้งใจจะทำฉากจำลองในขนาด 1/48 แต่เนื่องจากฟิกเกอร์ในมาตราส่วนนี้นั้นหาค่อนข้างยาก (และท่าทางไม่ตรงกับรูปแบบที่คิดไว้) เลยพักงานนี้เอาไว้และรอจนกว่าอุปกรณ์ประกอบฉากทุกอย่างจะพร้อม

5. Sturmtiger - (Tamiya 1/35 scale w/Eduard Photo Etched set)

After seeing the picture of this particular tank from a competition in Europe, I decided to give it a try. I added some of the interior details to the model, as they will be visible when opening the top for loading the ammo. I made the gear box out of plastic sheet. (Since it’s only slightly visible, I just made the rough shape of the gear box and not every detail on it). Additional details were added using Eduard photo-Etch set. This work was done in 2009-2010

หลังจากที่ได้เห็นภาพของรถถังคันนี้จากงานประกวดในยุโรป เลยอยากที่จะลองทำดูบ้าง และทำออกมาแบบให้เห็นรายละเอียดภายในบางส่วน เพราะเวลาเปิดฝาสำหรับโหลดกระสุนที่ด้านบนตัวรถ จะมองทะลุเข้าไปได้  จึงต้องสร้างส่วนของ gear box ด้วยแผ่นพลาสติก (แต่เพราะจะมองเห็นได้แค่รางๆ เลยทำแค่รูปทรงโดยรวมเท่านั้น ไม่ได้เน้นรายละเอียดตามของจริง) และใช้ชุดแต่งดีเทลเซ็ตของ Eduard งานชิ้นนี้ทำค้างเอาไว้แค่นี้ ตั้งแต่ปี 2009-2010

For some of the pieces seen on previous posts, I intend not to paint it and just keep it as is so I could look back and study the way I create additional details on my past works. Also, it would be easier (and less time consuming) to just buy a newer version of these kits in some cases which have better and more accurate details. I hope that someday I will be back with the inspiration to finish these “undone” projects once more.

งานบางชิ้นที่เห็น ผมตั้งใจเอาไว้ว่าจะไม่ทำสีหรือทำต่อให้เสร็จ และจะเก็บเอาไว้แบบนี้ เพื่อที่จะได้เห็นถึงวิธีการในการเพิ่มเติมรายละเอียดของตัวเองในงานชิ้นเก่าๆ (บางชิ้นถ้าจะทำต่อให้เสร็จ ซื้อของที่ออกมาใหม่มาทำ จะได้รายละเอียดที่ดีและถูกต้องกว่า ประหยัดเวลาและแรงงานในการดัดแปลง) และหวังว่าในอนาคตผมคงจะมีแรงบันดาลใจให้กลับมาทำงานที่ค้างเอาไว้ให้เสร็จได้อีกครั้ง แฮปปี้โมเดลลิ่งครับ ทุกๆท่าน

3. Panzer IV Ausf.H (Mid Production) - (Tamiya 1/35 scale)

Modified from an early model made by TAMIYA, this Panzer IV have been turned into Mid Production model using a combination of plastic sheets, lead bits, and copper wires to add realistic details to the model. It is another one of my collection which was originally intended to be used for diorama but got shelved since 2005 or so.

ดัดแปลงจากของทามิย่าที่เป็นรุ่น Early ให้กลายเป็น Mid โดยใช้แผ่นพลาสติก แผ่นตะกั่ว และลวดทองแดง ในการเพิ่มเติมรายละเอียด เป็นอีก 1 งานที่ตั้งใจว่าจะนำไปใส่ในฉากจำลอง และเก็บเอาไว้ตั้งแต่ปี 2005-2006
