This year "Best of Show" went to Damon Drescher for his fantastic fantasy display. He also got a gold medal in Fantasy Division for his entire display. It looks like it was the first time in SCAHMS's history that an entry from Fantasy Division got the Best of Show award. Congratulations Damon :)
ผลงาน "Best of Show" ปีนี้เป็นของ Damon Drescher ครับ กับผลงานฟิกเกอร์ในแนวแฟนตาซีที่ทำออกมาได้ยอดเยี่ยมมากๆครับ นอกจากนี้ผลงานชุดนี้ยังได้รับรางวัลเหรียญทองจากประเภท Fantasy Division ด้วยครับ และเท่าที่ผมทราบ รู้สึกว่าครั้งนี้จะเป็นครั้งแรกของการประกวด ที่ผลงานจากประเภทแฟนตาซีนั้นได้รับรางวัลนี้ไปครับ
This year SCAHMS Show was held on April 10-11 at La Quinta Inn and Suites in La Palma, California. It was the same place from last year and also the same place for their monthly meeting. I went there on Saturday morning and the room was already filled with people and models on the show tables, because some of them came on Friday to set up their displays. There were around 195 pieces attended in the show, in all categories. It was great to see various works from the old and new members, some of them didn't attend last year and some just came in for the first time. I had a lot of inspiration from the show, many entries were very impressive especially the shadow boxes were my favorite from this year. I was also impressed with some displays that used velvet and put some boxes or plinths under it to display their models. I saw it before from last year but it looked more impressive to me than last time. I don't know what they called this kind of decoration but I really like it, it was so beautiful especially if you place it appropriate with your models. I think I will try to do it on my display in the next year.
งานประกวด SCAHMS 2015 จัดไปเมื่อวันศุกร์และเสาร์ที่ 10-11 เมษายน ที่ผ่านมาครับ โดยจัดที่โรงแรม La Quinta Inn and Suites ในเขต La Palma ใกล้ๆกับเมือง Los Angeles ในสหรัฐอเมริกาครับ ซึ่งสถานที่จัดนั้นเป็นที่เดิมกับปีที่แล้ว และเป็นที่ๆทางกลุ่มใช้ในการพบปะประจำเดือนกันอยู่ตลอด ในปีนี้ตัวผมเองเดินทางไปที่สถานที่จัดงานตอนเช้าวันเสาร์ครับ เมื่อไปถึงก็มีคนมากันพอสมควรแล้วรวมถึงผลงานที่ตั้งแสดงก็มีมากเช่นกันเพราะบางคนได้มาจัดเตรียมผลงานไว้ตั้งแต่วันศุกร์ครับ ในปีนี้มีผลงานมาร่วมแสดงทั้งหมดประมาณ 195 ชิ้นจากทุกประเภทครับ มันเป็นความรู้สึกดีสำหรับผมที่ได้เห็นผลงานที่หลากหลายจากทั้งสมาชิกเก่าและใหม่ที่มาเข้าร่วม สมาชิกบางคนที่ไม่มีโอกาสได้มาในปีที่แล้วก็ได้นำผลงานมาร่วมในปีนี้ด้วย รวมไปถึงผลงานจากบางคนที่พึ่งมาเข้าร่วมเป็นปีแรกด้วยครับ ซึ่งผลงานที่มาแสดงในปีนี้หลายๆชิ้นนั้นน่าประทับใจมากครับ โดยเฉพาะงานประเภท shadow box ผมรู้สึกประทับใจเป็นพิเศษ นอกจากนี้การจัดส่วนสำหรับแสดงผลงานของแต่ละคนหรือ display นั้น ของหลายคนก็ทำได้น่าสนใจมากครับ คือเค้าจะนำชั้นวางของเล็กๆหรือกล่องมาวางเรียงแล้วใช้ผ้ากำมะหยี่มาคลุมและจัดให้ดูสวยงาม เพื่อให้มันเป็นเหมือนกับฉากหลังให้กับงานโมเดล ซึ่งถ้าจัดวางดีๆให้มันดูเข้ากันมันจะดูสวยมากครับ ผมไม่ทราบเหมือนกันว่าการจัดวางแบบนี้เค้ามีชื่อเรียกเฉพาะหรือเปล่า แม้ผมจะเคยเห็นมาบ้างแล้วจากปีที่แล้ว แต่ปีนี้ดูเค้าจัดได้สวยและดูลงตัวกว่าเดิม เลยคิดว่าปีหน้าคงจะลองทำดูบ้างครับ
This year they also had the members of U.S.Junior Scale Modeling Team attended their works in category; Junior Division, and some entries in other categories. This is a non-profit organization who support kids to do the thing that they love, and I think they are very talented. Honestly, some of their entries were really great, I couldn't do like that when I was the same age as them. It was great to see some kids still interested in this hobby and I hope to see some kind of group or team like this in Thailand someday. I look forward to seeing more of their works in the future. นอกจากนั้น ปีนี้ยังมีผลงานของ U.S.Junior Scale Modeling Team ส่งมาเข้าร่วมด้วย ซึ่งกลุ่มนี้เป็นกลุ่มที่ไม่แสวงผลกำไรและจัดตั้งขึ้นเพื่อสนับสนุนให้เยาวชนนั้นได้ทำในสิ่งที่ชอบ และหาประสบการณ์จากการพาไปประกวดตามที่ต่างๆ เด็กๆที่มาร่วมมีตั้งแต่อายุสามสี่ขวบไปจนถึงอายุสิบหก และผลงานหลายๆชิ้นของเด็กเหล่านี้ก็น่าทึ่งมากๆครับ บางผลงานนั้นลองคิดว่าเป็นตัวผมเองเมื่อตอนอายุเท่านั้นผมยังไม่สามารถทำได้แบบที่เค้าทำเลย ผมว่ามันเป็นเรื่องที่ดีมากๆที่มีคนมาคอยสนับสนุนให้เยาวชนได้ทำในสิ่งที่ชอบ และได้เห็นเยาวชนรุ่นใหม่ๆในบ้านเค้ายังคงสนใจในงานอดิเรกประเภทนี้อยู่บ้าง หวังเอาไว้ว่าสักวันหนึ่งจะเห็นกลุ่มหรือองค์กรแบบนี้ในบ้านเราบ้าง หากท่านสนใจในผลงานของกลุ่มนี้หรือต้องการจะสนับสนุนก็สามารถเข้าไปเยี่ยมชมได้ที่นี่ครับ U.S.Junior Scale Modeling Team
It was a great show again this year, in my opinion. I was attended with the show for second time and I really had a great time there once again. It was a good feeling for me when attended with the show and saw many impressive works, got many inspiration, had a chance to meet some old and new friends and talked about our hobby, exchanged comments or gave some advices. Everyone seemed happy because it was all about our love in this hobby, and it made the room filled with camaraderie and informality. These experiences from the show were the most valuable rather than award or medal in my opinion. Thank you so much for SCAHMS staff and members for another great show, see you again next year. :)
สำหรับผมแล้ว งานประกวดในปีนี้ก็เป็นอีกปีที่น่าประทับใจครับ ผมเข้าร่วมงานในปีนี้เป็นครั้งที่สองและก็ยังคงประทับใจเหมือนกับในครั้งแรก มันเป็นความรู้สึกดีสำหรับผมที่ได้เข้าร่วมในงานและมีโอกาสได้เห็นผลงานดีๆมากมาย ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจ มีโอกาสได้พบกับทั้งเพื่อนเก่าและเพื่อนใหม่ พูดคุยกันในเรื่องของโมเดล แลกเปลี่ยนความคิดหรือแนะนำเกี่ยวกับผลงาน ซึ่งทุกๆคนที่มานั้นก็ดูมีความสุขกันทั้งหมด อาจจะเป็นเพราะทุกๆคนมาร่วมงานด้วยเหตุผลเดียวกันคือความรักที่มีต่องานอดิเรกประเภทนี้ ซึ่งมันทำให้บรรยากาศนั้นเต็มไปด้วยความอบอุ่นและเป็นกันเองครับ ประสบการณ์ทั้งหลายที่ได้จากการประกวดนี้ สำหรับผมแล้วมันดูมีค่ามากกว่ารางวัลต่างๆเสียอีก และต้องขอขอบคุณทางเหล่าผู้จัดงานนี้เป็นอย่างสูง สำหรับงานประกวดที่ยอดเยี่ยมอีกหนึ่งปี และหวังว่าปีถัดไปผมจะได้ไปร่วมอีก แล้วจะนำมารายงานให้ได้ชมกันอีกครับ

(Space Marines On Display no.05)
I've been working on this project for the past few months, and it is finally finished. I decided to paint a marble pillar on this base, because the pillar is the main structure of the base and I want it looks attractive. I painted the marble pillar once on my previous project, but this time I used a different technique to paint marble. It was also applied from faux marble painting that used to decorate the house's interior or kitchen , but this time I focused on creating the textures on the marble in order to make it looks more natural. The result of this new technique looks more realistic in my opinion, I really love it :) You can see the different from my previous painted marble on the base for Black Templars The Emperor's Champion.
I'll write a step-by-step article of making and painting this base and it will be published in a future issue of Figure Painter Magazine.
นี่คือผลงานล่าสุดที่พึ่งจะทำเสร็จครับ เป็นโครงการที่ใช้เวลาทำอยู่นานพอสมควรเพราะผมจะสลับทำกันงานชิ้นอื่นๆบ้าง ในงานชิ้นนี้ผมตัดสินใจที่จะลองทำสีในส่วนของฐานให้เป็นเสาหินอ่อนดูอีกครั้ง เนื่องจากตัวเสานี้จะเป็นโครงสร้างหลักของฐานและผมต้องการที่จะทำให้มันดูน่าสนใจมากกว่าเสาปูนเรียบๆทั่วไป ซึ่งเทคนิคที่ผมนำมาใช้ในการทำสีหินอ่อนนี้ ผมดัดแปลงมาจากวิธีการเพนท์ที่เรียกว่า faux marble painting ที่เป็นการเพนท์แบบเลียนแบบและจำลองลักษณะของหินอ่อนให้เหมือนจริงเพื่อใช้ในการตกแต่งภายในอาคารหรือห้องครัว เพื่อให้ดูเหมือนกับว่าเป็นการนำหินอ่อนจริงๆมาใช้ในการตกแต่ง และผลลัพท์ของวิธีใหม่ที่นำมาลองทำกับงานชิ้นนี้ก็ดูสมจริงขึ้นกว่าเดิมในความคิดของผมครับ หากเปรียบเทียบกับหินอ่อนที่เคยเพนท์เอาไว้ก่อนหน้านี้บนฐานของ Black Templars The Emperor's Champion ก็จะเห็นความแตกต่างอยู่พอสมควรครับ

The past few weeks I've been very busy preparing my entries for "MV's Bananalicious Painting Contest 2" and "SCAHMS 2015". The SCAHMS Show was held yesterday (April 11) at La Palma, California and it was a great show and I had a really great time there. I have tons of photos from the show, I'll post it here and my FB page soon. Stay tuned ;)

ช่วงสองสามอาทิตย์ที่ผ่านมาผมค่อนข้างยุ่งกับการเตรียมผลงานสำหรับประกวดในงาน MV's Bananalicious Painting Contest 2 กับ SCAHMS 2015 ซึ่งงาน SCAHMS นั้นพึ่งจัดเสร็จสิ้นไปเมื่อวานครับ (วันเสาร์ที่ 11 เมษายน) เป็นอีกหนึ่งงานประกวดที่น่าประทับมากๆสำหรับผม และผมคงจะนำภาพบรรยากาศและผลงานที่เข้าร่วมประกวดในงานนี้มาลงให้ชมกันที่นี่และในเฟซบุ๊คเพจของผมเร็วๆนี้ครับ
