Ultramarines Chaplain

(Converted from Space Marine Imperial Fists Chaplain)

From : Warhammer 40,000
Armies : Space Marines
Unit type :  HQ
Scale : 28mm metal figure
Manufacturer : Game Workshop

The last figure of this first set is converting from Space Marine Imperial Fists Chaplain and some leftover parts from my friend scrap box. That is why the mace (Crozius Arcanum), the left arm and the gun look different from the original. I also sculpted a skeleton with Ultramarines badge and placed it on the left shoulder. The Chapter Banner is made from Alteco’s epoxy putty, thin plastic sheet and tube to give some story to the figure.

For the coloring, I tried to integrate all techniques that I learned from before on acrylic water-based colors, including glazing, blending and wet-on-wet technique. The color tone was also changed to black with red, yellow and some blue  to give the figure distinguish appearance. And also used a NMM technique on all of the metal parts.
Last but not least, for give this mini's are more unique. I tried to painted my own style pattern on an armor and the Chapter Banner by referenced from a skull pictures and gothic style pattern and applied it by consideration of the composition and suitability with these figure.

After having tried making four miniature Wargames and studied these kind of figures from various websites
(especially CoolMiniOrNot which has many top-notch Modelers), I have gained a new perspective on my work and painting techniques. Also, I’ve got a chance to seriously work with acrylic water-based colors and I will try to use the knowledge that I have gained to improve my own work in the future (Military and Historical models).
Certainly, I hope to add more of these miniatures into my collection. :)

Ultramarines Captain

From : Warhammer 40,000 Assault on Black Reach
Armies : Space Marines
Unit type :  HQ
Scale : 28mm plastic figure
Manufacturer : Game Workshop

The third figure is not painted according to the original. I Changed the color inside a shawl (or cloak?) with a black tone and used a red tone for a cloth for more contrast of a blue tone armor. And I also applied an additional graphic and NMM technique coloring on the metal parts.
This time, I learned much more to used a glaze technique for blending when using a water-based colors. A Retarder mediums and Glaze mediums from Vallejo are very useful for this method.

I used two backgrounds in this figure. The Atmosphere of the mini's look a little bit different between a white and green backgrounds
